The RONDO studios
Province of Styria artists’ apartments - an international networking project
Live-in and working studios provided by the region of Styria, networking creative people from all genres.
The region of Styria offers twelve artists' studios located in Graz for use by artists and cultural professionals from Austria and all over the world.
The studios are situated in the RONDO building (formerly the site of the Marienmühle flour mill), a striking and unique new complex in the Lend district. Located on the fourth and fifth floors, the modern studios offer spectacular views of the city. The RONDO complex is made up of residential apartments and offices, whose occupants include architects, creative companies and the Institute for Art in Public Space.
The studios are provided free of rent. Any other costs not included in the rent-such as organisational and administrative costs, electricity, materials and living and travel costs-are met by the artists themselves.
Four live-in studios
The four live-in studios are intended for international artists as residences with working and living space.
The length of stay awarded varies. The individual wishes of the artists are taken into account wherever possible.
Eight working studios
The eight working studios are awarded for a period of two years. They create an ideal working environment for locally based artists.
The architectural design of the studios provides the framework for a stimulating exchange between the individual artists, and space for dynamic international cultural networking. Joint presentations promote successful contact between the residents, cultural professionals and an interested public.
The RONDO studios are operated and equipped by Kultur Service Gesellschaft des Landes Steiermark (KSG).
